2004 Tox-Away Day In September 2004, AVANT employees participated in the Allen County Solid Waste District’s (ACSWD) Tox-Away Day, an annual event that provides the residents of Allen County with a drive-through opportunity to properly and economically dispose of unwanted household hazardous wastes. AVANT staff directed the large amount of traffic, collected fees, and assessed waste types, volumes, and acceptability.
For the second consecutive year, AVANT has won the annual Excellence in Recycling 3R Award (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) sponsored by the Allen County, Indiana, Solid Waste District. The award honors local companies and organizations that have demonstrated a high level of commitment to promoting waste reduction and recycling within their operations and communities. AVANT received the award in August 2004 at a reception/lunch at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
In December 2004, for the third year, AVANT participated in the “Taste of the Chamber”, an annual holiday event sponsored by the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce. Tasty treats provided by local businesses, roaming carolers, and even the big man himself, Santa Claus, were in attendance. A highlight of the evening was the silent auction of table-top holiday trees decorated by each participating company and organization. Attendees bid on the trees with the proceeds going to fund Chamber functions for the upcoming year. AVANT’s tree, dubbed “T’was the Ninth Before Christmas”, featured a golfing theme.
In the spirit of the 2004 holiday season, AVANT employees participated in the Stuff-a-Bus" Radio-thon sponsored by a local radio station, which is an annual event with the goal of filling an entire bus with food to feed the hungry. AVANT employees donated non-perishable food items, which were then delivered to the collection point (the bus). We want to thank our generous staff for their donations. |
